The volunteers of the St. Louis Chapter of Love on a Leash take great pride in the fellowship and camaraderie among members, (over 60 canine & 2 feline pet therapy teams). Though volunteers, the men and women of the St. Louis Chapter take the commitments made to facilities very seriously. Residents, clients, and facility staff all look forward to "Love on a Leash" day, and fellow visiting teams depend on one another for consistency and reliability. If you would like to receive more information regarding the opportunities available to share some four-footed love, please feel free to submit an online query!
The Chinese proverb, "A joy that is shared is a joy that is doubled" embodies the philosophy of our dedicated and generous volunteers. Our furry Love on a Leash critters who love to visit, and their two legged handlers, provided more than 2,000 visits during the 2018 year. Comprised primarily of canine teams, our chapter is proud to engage in pet visitation during the week, evening hours and some weekends. Our national organization registers and insures qualified dogs, cats, and even rabbits. Teams may operate only in a volunteer role; we are not able to certify animals for use in a professional capacity. Check out our 2019Team!
